The Squamish area is filled with Recreational opportunities.
Located at the end of Howe Sound sailors and sailboarders find the wind
spectacular. The country is covered with hiking and cycling trails.
Dive, sailing and fishing charters are all available from the marina located
in Squamish.
Porteau Cove which is a 10 minute drive South of Klahanie Campground boasts an
underwater park with man-made reefs and a sunken ship for divers to
explore.
The Stawamus Chief is the second largest granite monolith in the world
and draws mountain climbers from all over the world. You can look out
over the Chief from the comfort of your camping site or take the short drive
to the view area at the base of the mountain which provides an excellent
view of these daredevils and is the entrance to the hiking trail that winds
up the back side of the mountain. The view from the top makes it one of
the most rewarding short hikes anywhere.
Shannon Falls is nestled just south of The Chief and and is a beautiful park and picnic area. You will enjoy the view of Shannon Falls from your camp site or from the Klahanie Restaurant. Take a short walk to view the Falls.
The Britannia Miniung Museum (once the largest copper producer in North America) is located 6 minutes South of Klahanie Campground and hosts underground tours explaining the mining techniques employed there.
